Housing Emergency

The housing emergency requires a reevaluation of how we grow and use the municipality’s housing stock. It is essential to make better use of the opportunities offered by planning and existing buildings, as well as to reclaim abandoned or underused spaces that can once again play an active role within the urban fabric. Such interventions help revitalize urban areas, including low-density zones, and open the door to new forms of living. At the same time, promoting planning regulations and strategies that facilitate the creation of affordable housing is essential to meet current needs. The ultimate goal is to expand access to housing and promote more balanced urban development.

Through this line of work, CRAL provides local administrations with strategies for creating new affordable housing from an urban or architectural perspective, based on planning and/or design, as well as research proposals and/or prototypes related to innovative and inclusive ways of living.
